The THREE most recent shows at Coagula Curatorial Gallery in Chinatown have each drawn rave reviews in the local art press and the LA Weekly’s online arts coverage! Check it out:
A reception for the MATJAMES METSON show is scheduled for this Saturday Night at the Gallery, read about the show in this week’s LA WEEKLY (CLICK LINK) and the Huffington Post’s ARTS SECTION (CLICK LINK). Thanks to writers Joseph Lapin and Lisa Derrick for delivering the exciting work of MatJames to the general public. Hope to see you at the reception Saturday, August 4, 5-10 PM.
The Matjames Metson show is really special as you will read about above. We opened in Chinatown in April and the number of non-art-world regulars who respond to the work and actually get excited about being in the gallery has been rewarding. Of course, the sales from the art-world buyers has been pretty rewarding too!
There is also a show by the world famous KAREN FINLEY in our basement gallery. Entitled “Unicorn in Red” this series of of automatic painting and writing is the artist’s reflection on mortality and connecting to the other side. Her recent sold out performance at Coagula Curatorial Gallery drew a rave review from critic Carol Cheh in the LA WEEKLY (CLINK LINK).
And although it is down, we would hope you enjoy the recent LA WEEKLY (CLICK LINK) coverage the gallery got with our one-night spectacular BURN by artist GORDY GRUNDY. That was a hell of a night. A big thanks to Tanja Laden for covering our event!
Karen Finley’s show runs thru Labor Day. Our MatJames Metson show, however, runs thru this Saturday night. Gallery Hours are WED - SAT, NOON - 5, but this Saturday the party goes until 10 PM.
